Departure to Merzouga desert passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the berber village of Immouzer Kandar and Ifrane, a wonderful mountains village, referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco and then on to Midelt. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you may well sight Barbary apes. After sometime within the forest, your journey continues to the desert along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau, you’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia, Afterwards, you will travel along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud, where also you will see the fossiles, then continue to Rissani to explore one of the authentic local market in the south east of Morocco. After visiting the village and oasis of Merzouga, You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle, then we continue to see the panoramic view behind the Erg Chebbi of sand dunes so as to take lot of pictures and to see how the colour of the dunes change by the light of the sun after to the village of Mirdani “an old village in ruins ” also stopping at M’fis, the place where coal was extracted and the large majority of the population of Merzouga worked to earn a living. A very interesting day which is spent in or very near the dunes” the highest dunes in Morocco. After the village of Mirdani we continue to the Nomads families in their tents at Kem Kem. After having tea with them we will stop to see the fossiles and return to the hotel. where you will meet your camel guide to ride into the dunes to the bivouac(camp).Dinner and overnight will be under the nomad tent. Pick up at the Hotel/Riad at 8 AM to drive south of Marrakech for an adventure day tour through Ourika Valley. After around (30 Kms, 18.64 miles) the lush valley of Ourika starts. The Valley of Ourika is planted with olive, walnut, apple, apricot, cherry trees and much more. We will visit a local “Berber” house to explore their way of life and enjoy the tea ceremony lesson & breakfast. Majestic views and varied landscapes of Berber villages built in adobe and stones. Continue through the second valley that is Oukaimeden valley, and taking a secluded mountain road route standing at 1800 meters above sea level, you will pass through traditional Berber villages built from adobe and stones. Originally built on a rocky peninsula and overlooking the Atlantic, Essaouira is one of Morocco’s must-see destinations. With a whitewashed medina enclosed by huge pink sandstone ramparts which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and with a rich Portuguese and Andalusian heritage, Essaouira holds great appeal. From a long white sandy beach and dunes to a bustling fishing port with excellent seafood and colourful wooden fishing boats, Essaouira has always been a favourite retreat of hippies, sailors, artists and musicians.
Founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC, the Portuguese arrived in the 15th century and established the first fortifications and a trading post. The town of Essaouira itself wasn’t built until the latter half of the 1700′s, sanctioned by an Alouite sultan, Mohammed II. It was actually a renowned French architect who designed and built the town, harbour and fortifications in the style of a European fortress.
Local attractions include the Sidi Med Ben Abdallah Museum, the souks, the old city gates, and the impressive sqalas – fortified sea bastions. Perhaps enjoy a meal in one of the fabulous seafood restaurants and a stroll along Essaouira’s impressive sandy beach, overnight stay at riad.
